We Want YOU

Galway’s newest café has the best of many worlds: the same culinary team as Bar 8 on the docks, the location of the Spanish Arch and the bright contemporary setting of the city museum. In Autumn this year Café 8 (at the Museum) is launching a programme of events that aims to create dialogue among the city’s artists and provide a platform for exploring new approches to art practices.

In keeping with the nature of what we hope to achieve, we thought it better to consult with people rather than to assume we know what is desired or required by the community. What kind of events would you like to see at the Café? Bear in mind that when we say events we don’t just mean shows and gigs – the sky is the limit. Would you like to lead some workshops? Is it time for a think tank involving the city’s artists? Do you think there should be alternative screenings? A variation on a games night? Speakers series? Projects encouraging weekend collaborations between artists? Something completely different altogether?

We are keen to hear your thoughts and ideas and to run your night alongside ours. We offer you the café space which includes a piano, ample seating, natural light, friendly staff, delicious food and lots of plants! Also available is our performance space in the Mueum foyer which seats up to 60 people and will be rigged with lights.

Café 8 (at the Museum) is interested in initiatives, workshops, one-off events and forums as much as shows and exhibitions so cast your thinking net wide!

If you are interested in discussing an idea please email cafecorribbean@gmail.com before the end of the month.
